1440 people lost lives or limbs to the remnants of the war

At least 1 440 people lost lives or limbs due to the explosion of ammunition left over from the war across Afghanistan in the past one year.
Nouruddin Rustamkhel, the head of mine sweeping at the Disasters Management Authority, told Salam Watandar that 120 people got killed or injured every month across the country, majority of whom are children.
Rustamkhel said that the lack of funds is the most important challenge to the demining process in Afghanistan because with the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, aid in the field of demining to Afghanistan has decreased and aid in the coordination of this process has been completely cut off.
According to him, now, two international institutes and six domestic institutes are active in the demining sector in Afghanistan.
